In the summer of 1989, my sister and I spent every day in the pool pretending to be part of Ariel’s world.  I had a white cassette tape of the soundtrack to the movie that we played until it finally broke.  It’s hard for younger generations to fully realize what a cultural impact “The Little Mermaid” movie had in resurrecting the entire Disney franchise.  Needless to say, if there hadn’t been an Ariel, there wouldn’t be a Disney+ today.  Besides loving the amazing animation and incredible music, I identified with the story because we had just moved into a new house in a new town.  Like Ariel, I was trying to find a home. 

Over 30 years later, I still connect with this timeless story, but in a different way. I have four kids of my own (who also never want to leave the swimming pool). I now see this as a story about a father learning to support their child as they search to find their own home.  Triton does not understand why Ariel wants to disregard all she has been taught.  Ultimately, he chooses to love her for who she is, not who he wishes she would be.  As I watch my own children test the open waters of this messy human world, I strive to support them in discovering their identity and helping them find a place where they belong.

Brigham is over the moon to return to the Centre Stage. He was last seen in our 2021 production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as Jeremy Potts. Previous credits include: Bruce (Matilda) at Alpine Community Theatre and Charlie Bucket (Willy Wonka Jr.) at the Scera Shell Theatre.

Making his HCT debut! Collin is excited to join the Hale Centre family with this production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Collin is currently studying in the BFA program in Musical Theatre at UVU. “Every BODY belongs on stage!”

Scotty is thrilled to be back on the HCT stage! They were recently seen in our productions of The Light in the Piazza and Treasure Island. Along with their performances at HCT, they have performed with West Valley Performing Arts Center (In The Heights), Lyric Repertory Company, and Good Company Theatre. Scotty graduated from USU with a BFA in Acting.

Gunnar is pleased to be back on the HCT Stage. Previous HCT credits include: Singin’ in the Rain. Guys and Dolls, Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom The Musical, Freaky Friday, and Newsies (Crutchie). Aitana is excited to be back on the HCT Centre Stage! Stage credits include: The Secret Garden, A Tale of Two Cities, AIDA with Hale Centre Theatre, and In The Heights with West Valley Arts. She is also the recipient of the Best Actress award for her role in AIDA in 2014 and performed at the Minskoff Theatre in NYC for the Jimmy Awards. She graduated from Brigham Young University with her BA in Theatre Art Studies.

Beatriz returns to the HCT stage after last appearing in our recent production of Treasure Island. Beatriz recently graduated with a BFA in Musical Dance Theatre from BYU Spring of 2021.

Anne-Marie is pleased to be back on the HCT stage. Her favorite credits include Singin’ In The Rain, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with HCT and Footloose: The Musical at the Harman Theatre with WVC. She attended American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York and graduated from UVU as part of the Modern Dance Program. Making her HCT debut! Phoebe is thrilled to play a part in this production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. She graduated from UVU with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and puts that to good use as a Preschool Teacher. “I am forever grateful for the constant love and support from my sweet husband and son!”

Brittany’s credits include: HCT - The Secret Garden (Lily Craven), A Tale of Two Cities (Lucie Manette); WVC Arts - Ain’t Misbehavin’ (Armelia); BYU - l'Elisir d'Amore (Adina); in addition, she was a featured performer for Governor Herbert's annual Gala, and was a featured soloist at The Stadium of Fire in 2016. 

Making her HCT debut! Emma spent two years performing with BYU’s Young Ambassadors and was most recently seen in Cinderella at Sundance Summer Theater. Favorite stage credits include: Joseph…Dreamcoat (Narrator) and Oklahoma! (Laurey). Emma is currently a Senior in BYU’s Music Dance Theatre program and teaches at Utah COPA. “I’m grateful to be a part of such a spectacular production with my own prince, Alex!”

Jenny is overjoyed to return to the Hale Centre Family! Making her HCT debut! Je Eun is thrilled to join Hale Centre Theatre for the production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Jordan was previously seen on and above our Centre Stage as Terk in our 2020 production of Disney’s Tarzan. Other HCT credits include: The Wizard of Oz (Scarecrow), Newsies (Romeo), AIDA, and Joseph...Dreamcoat (Gad). Jordan’s muggle job is working as a triage nurse for Alpine Pediatrics. “Hayden, Avery, and Sterling - I’m so happy to be ‘part of your world’. Returning to the HCT stage after his most recent performance in last season's production of Guys and Dolls. Kile hails from St. George, Utah, where he graduated from Dixie State University with a BS in Theatre.

Dave is delighted to be back on the HCT stage after recently performing in our production of Singin’ in the Rain. Other favorite credits include: HCT - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Guys & Dolls, Disney’s Tarzan, Mary Poppins, and Phantom; Mountain West Ballet - Alice in Wonderland, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Copelia; Utah Opera (Capitol Theater) - Yenufa; Ballet West (Capitol Theater) - The Nutcracker and Swan Lake; and 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Winter Games - Opening and Closing Ceremonies. He has a Master of Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music, a Master of Information Systems, and a Bachelor of Business Marketing from the U of U.

Making his HCT debut! Steven comes to Hale Centre with an extensive background in dance. He has toured with the International Folk Dance Ensemble in Serbia, North Macedonia, and Belgium. He currently performs with BYU’s Contemporary Dance Theatre. Stage credits include: Fiddler on the Roof (Fyedka). Steven is pursuing a BFA in Graphic Design at Brigham Young University.

Favorite performing credits include: Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Oklahoma!, and Oliver! with Hale Centre Theatre; Jungle Rhythm and Into the Dark at Lagoon; It’s the Merriest Christmas Ever, Charlie Brown at Knotts Berry Farm; The Polar Express Train Ride in Tavares; The Sesame Street Party Parade at SeaWorld Orlando; and Gravedigger in the Boo to You Parade at Walt Disney World. Nick graduated in Musical Theatre and Psychology.

Patrick was last seen in our productions of Guys and Dolls, A Tale of Two CIties, Disney’s Tarzan, Disney’s Mary Poppins, Seussical, Freaky Friday, The Wizard of Oz, and Tuck Everlasting. Making her HCT debut! Marissa is thrilled to join this production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid! She trained with Jacqueline’s School of Ballet for 15 years and performed with Utah Metropolitan Ballet productions including The Nutcracker, Peter Pan, and Snow White. She also toured across Europe with Stars of Tomorrow International for ballet as well as many ballet festivals across the United States. “Don’t let the fear of being rejected keep you from chasing your dreams!”

Making her HCT debut! Benzley is thrilled to be a part of this production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Other favorite stage credits include: Rock of Ages (Sherrie Christian), Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (Belle), Disney’s The Little Mermaid (Ariel), and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Milly). Benzley is a performer with Magical Moments Party Entertainment as well as film work with Rob Diamond Films.

Thrilled to be back above our Centre Stage; Previous HCT credits for Jessica include: Disney’s Tarzan, Seusscial, The Wizard of Oz, AIDA, and The Little Mermaid. She works with Defying Gravity Utah, Aerobatics Performing Arts, and Voodoo Productions as well as a freelance artist and illustrator. “Thank you to her wonderful husband, Jenner, her coach, Ramsi, and all of the supportive friends and family members who have helped along the way.”

Christina is excited to be working on this production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Previous stage credits include: Disney’s Tarzan with Hale Centre Theatre. She has trained with Defying Gravity Utah with coaching by Ramsi Stoker. “Thank you to my family, friends, and especially Ramsi for all your support and love”.

Inspired by our 2015 production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Olivia began her aerial arts journey with Ramsi and her studio, Defying Gravity Utah. Now performing on the HCT stage is truly a full circle experience. Olivia was recently seen in our productions of Disney’s Tarzan and Seussical The Musical.

Jessica is thrilled to be back on the Hale Centre Stage after appearing in our productions of Disney’s Tarzan and Seussical The Musical. Jessica and her aerial partners Samantha Nielsen won the 2022 aerialympics and was honored to perform their routine at a Utah Jazz game. Jessica wants to thank her husband and her 3 amazing kids for supporting her aerialist dreams.

Making her HCT debut! MaKayla is thrilled to be a part of this production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. She has performed across the Salt Lake Valley with Odyssey Dance Theatre in Thriller and Aeris Aerial Arts in Fighter as well as performing at Capitol Theatre and Tuacahn Amphitheater. “Whoever gives nothing has nothing. Returning to the Centre Stage; Mia was previously seen in our productions of Disney’s Tarzan and The Wizard of Oz. She has trained with Ramsi Stoker of Defying Gravity Utah. “Thank you Ramsi for pushing me to fly high always! Thank you to my mom, partner, family and friends for always being so supportive!”

Holly began the sport of equestrian vaulting with the Oak Hills Vaulting Club in Salem, Utah and was a member for 13 years, competing at many regional and national competitions. Holly was also part of the club's performance troupe, G.O.H.A. (Gymnastics on Horseback Association), and performed at various events across the Western United States. 

Samantha is honored to join the company of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Some favorite stage credits include: AIDA with HCT, Utah Jazz Halftime Show, Eclipse 6 Christmas Concert, The Mayan Adventure, and Chimelong International Circus. Samantha’s circus training includes Aerobatics Performing Arts, Chimelong International Circus, and Defying Gravity Utah with coaching from Ramsi Stoker, Lance Nielsen, and Otgo Waller. 

Jane was previously seen in our productions of Disney’s Tarzan, The Wizard of Oz, and Seussical The Musical. She has a BA in Dance from BYU Idaho and is currently teaching dance and coaching the dance company coach at Herriman High School. She began her aerial training in 2018 with Ramsi Stoker of Defying Gravity. “Why worry about the things you can't do. Start enjoying the things you can do."

Ryan Simmons returns to the director chair after helming our productions of One of the Pot and The Play That Goes Wrong. Ryan is also a familiar performer on our stages, most recently starring as The Cat in The Hat in Seussical The Musical. Other HCT stage credits include Mr. Wormwood (Matilda), Lumiere (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast), and the titular role in The Nerd in both our 2016 and 2006 productions. Ryan studied directing at BYU and has staged productions in New York, Utah, Seattle, and Montana. Ryan's award winning one-man show will perform at the United Solo Theatre Festival in NYC this fall. He is an adjunct professor in the Theatre Department at both Utah Valley University and Brigham Young University. 

Originally from Utah, Lindsey relocated to the East Coast after graduating from the University of Utah with her BFA in Modern Dance. She spent 5 years as a Radio City Rockette where she toured to over 50 cities and kicked at Radio City Music Hall. At Walt Disney World, she was a choreographer and teaching artist for Disney Performing Arts, and a performer in Beauty and the Beast Live On Stage as well as the Halloween show Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular. 

Kelly is one of the most sought-after Music Directors along the Wasatch Front. His talent and skills have been instrumental in the success of many of our productions, with the most recent being Lucky Stiff, Singin’ in the Rain, School of Rock, The Secret Garden, Always...Patsy Cline, Les Misérables, A Tale of Two Cities, Disney’s Tarzan, Disney’s Mary Poppins, Bright Star, Seussical, Freaky Friday, An American in Paris, AIDA, Forever Plaid, Sister Act, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Peter and the Starcatcher, Big Fish, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, GHOST the Musical, Catch Me If You Can, and Mary Poppins. 

Ramsi’s extensive background as a competitive gymnast and professional dancer led her to the circus. Inspired as a youth by Cirque du Soleil, she added aerial arts to her repertoire over twenty years ago. Her talents have been seen around the world, performing in theatrical productions, televised awards shows, sports arenas, theme parks, conventions, music videos, software apps, fitness videos, cruise ships, and commercials. 

Along with The Little Mermaid, Chantel has served as Stage Manager for School of Rock, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Guys and Dolls, A Tale of Two Cities, Disney’s Mary Poppins, Seussical, Cinderella, Matilda, The Wizard of Oz, and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder here at HCT. She holds a BA in Theatre from UVU. Other credits include Utah Shakespeare Festival: The Foreigner and Big River. 

Kacey is the Creative Director and Resident Scenic Designer at Hale Centre Theatre. He has designed over 100 productions at HCT and loves the challenge of working on our unique stages. Kacey oversaw many of the design aspects of the new building in Sandy and feels fortunate to be able to design on the stages that he helped create. 

Previous HCT Costume Design credits include The Unsinkable Molly Brown, The Light in the Piazza, One for the Pot, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Secret Garden, Les Misérables, A Tale of Two Cities, Murder on the Orient Express, The Addams Family, An American In Paris, Tuck Everlasting, and My Son Pinocchio, along with Joseph...Dreamcoat in 2017. 

Jaron has been the resident Lighting Designer for the oldest operating summer theater in the nation: The Cape Playhouse, where his credits include Little Shop of Horrors, The Importance of Being Earnest, Deathtrap, Clue, Altar Boyz, Steel Magnolias, Art, Red, The Foreigner, Murder for Two. 

Michelle has always loved telling stories. Being Hawaiian has helped her gain experience in events from a young age. She decided to dive into finding out more about sound and how it functions. This path led her to her MFA in Sound for the Performing Arts from Purdue University. 

Michelle is extremely passionate about details, research, beautiful and interesting “things,” anything to do with flowers, and opening packages. She recently designed her 98th show with our production of The Unsinkable Molly Brown; some of her other favorite designs have included The Drowsy Chaperone, Over The River..., Les Misérables, Tuck Everlasting, My Fair Lady, AIDA, A Tale of Two Cities, Cinderella, Silent Sky, and She Loves Me. 

Some of Candice’s favorite hair and makeup designs for HCT include: Steel Magnolias, Mary Poppins, and Always...Patsy Cline, as well as our recent Youth Productions of Frozen Jr and Descendants. She is a graduate of Paul Mitchell the School, where she has been an instructor since 2008. She also works as a resident designer and cosmetologist for the HCT Hair and Makeup Department. “I would like to thank Trisha, Krissa, and Marneé for helping me grow as an Artist and Designer. I also want to thank Adam, Cordelia, and Gabriella for being so supportive of my dream to work in theatre. Kiss Kiss!”
