Author Ian Fleming, (best known for his iconic spy creation; James Bond), never set out to become an author of children’s literature. His tales of a wacky inventor and a magical flying car began simply as short episodic stories he would tell his young son. It was only after he suffered a heart attack that his wife encouraged him to write down these treasured stories. In 1961, Fleming began to compile these adventures as a novel. 

Though Fleming would pass away before its publishing, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang became one of the top selling children’s book’s of 1964. 

After the monster success of Disney’s 1964 film Mary Poppins, the producers of Fleming’s James Bond films decided that Chitty was to be the next big musical mega hit. Hoping to catch lightening in a bottle twice, they rather conspicuously recruited Poppins star Dick Van Dyke to play the role of wacky inventor Caractacus Potts, (Julie Andrews turned down the offer to play the role of Truly Scrumptious) and even commandeered the same Poppin’s songwriting duo, Richard and Robert Sherman. 

The film opened in 1968 to mixed reviews. Though initial theatrical release was not the success the producers had hoped for, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang found true success and a worldwide audience as an annual television broadcast. 

In 2002, the new musical stage version opened in London’s west end, and in 2005, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang; The Musical flew onto the Broadway stage in New York City.

With themes of family teamwork (…“that makes the dream work”), the tenacity of invention, the joyful risk of adventure and the boundless love of a father for his children,  Mr. Fleming’s magical tale is sure to fly high for generations to come.

Returning to the Hale Centre family, Alex is honored to be back on the Centre Stage. Favorite stage credits include: Disney’s Tarzan (Terk), Les Miserables (Feuilly), and Over the River and Through The Woods (Nick) with HCT along with Seussical (Wickersham Bro) and UrineTown (Bobby Strong) with HCTO. 

Austin is thrilled to be back at Hale Centre Theatre. HCT credits include: Les Miserables, Mary Poppins, The Pirates of Penzance, A Christmas Carol, and Fiddler on the Roof. Other favorite credits include: Next To Normal, The Fantasticks, Candide, Wonderful Town, Oklahoma!, Anything Goes, Godspell, Hello, Dolly!, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest, Fools, Good Doctor, in addition to lots of sketch comedy and improv. Austin graduated from BYU in Economics and Russian. He is also a graduate of the Second City Conservatory in Chicago.

Making her HCT debut! As a child, Teaira would dance around the living room, pretending to be Truly Scrumptious. Stage credits include: The Light in the Piazza and Cosi fan Tutte with Transgressive Theatre Opera; Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella and The Hunchback of Notre Dame with The Palace Theatre; Iolanthe with Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company of Chicago; and Candide, The Pirates of Penzance, Into The Woods, and Anything Goes with Music Theatre Works.

Whitney was most recently seen on the HCT stage in this season’s production of Guys and Dolls. Her other credits include Mary Poppins, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Sister Act, and Oklahoma! with HCT; The national tour of Spamalot; Singer/Dancer with Holland America Line; and Juanito Bandito’s Christmas Carol with Pickleville Playhouse. Whitney graduated from BYU with a BFA in Music Dance Theatre.

Zac was last seen in our production of Guys and Dolls as Arvide Abernathy. Favorite HCT credits include: Bright Star (Daddy Murphy), Seussical (General Gengus Khan Schmitz), Wait Until Dark (Sargent Carlino), The Music Man (Mayor Shinn), Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (Cogsworth), Peter and the Starcatcher (Alf), She Loves Me (Mr. Marachek), and Born Yesterday (Harry Brock). 

Daniel is pleased to be back on the HCT stage; he was previously seen in this season's production of Les Misérables as Monsieur Thenardier. His other credits include: HCTO - Little Women, The Odd Couple, See How They Run, and Betty Blue Eyes. He has a Master's Degree in Theatre & Cinematic Arts from BYU and is employed as a Seminary Teacher.  

A familiar face to HCT audiences. Previous credits on our stages: Gomez Addams (The Addams Family), Sebastian (Cinderella), Harry Roat, Jr. (Wait Until Dark), Prince John (The Heart of Robin Hood) and Steven Kodaly (She Loves Me). Other credits include: Shakespeare Theatre Company-Romeo and Juliet and The Tempest; Salt Lake Acting Company in Fun Home; and Hale Center Theater Orem in Annie, Peter and the Starcatcher, Big Fish, and Peter Pan. 

Kelly was last seen on our stage as Jerusha Abbott in our production of Daddy Long Legs.Other favorite credits include: Jerusha Abbott (Daddy Long Legs) and Katherine (Newsies) at Hale Center Theatre Orem and Gabrielle (Cinderella) and Gertrude McFuzz (Seussical), and Lucy Grant in Bright Star here at HCT. She graduated from UVU in performing arts and loves working in the education department at HCTO.

Ali is delighted to reprise the role of "Baroness Bomburst". When not playing a self-centered, child-hating diva, she can be found eating cheese. During pre and post-cheese eating, Ali is probably teaching Preschool at a Montessori school or goofing off with her little guy. 

Dustin’s last appearance at HCT was as Nicely-Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls. Favorite roles include HCT - Darryl Ames (Bright Star), Horton the Elephant (Seussical), Cowardly Lion (The Wizard of Oz) and HCTO - Henry Allerdyce (Betty Blue Eyes). He graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Musical Theatre. Dustin loves his cats: Sister, Brother, Peanut, and Kevin. “Thanks, Mom and Dad.”

Trevor is thrilled to be returning to the HCT stage! He was recently seen in our production of Les Miserables and Guys and Dolls. Other favorite stage credits include Little Shop of Horrors, Young Frankenstein, The Last 5 Years, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Peter and the Starcatcher, and Disney’s The Little Mermaid.

Amelia’s HCT credits include: Madame Thenardier (Les Miserables), Fred’s Wife/Poor Wife (A Christmas Carol), Mrs. Wormwood (Matilda), Morticia Addams (The Addams Family), Dorcus (Seven Brides for Seven Brothers).  Other favorite roles include: Grizette (The Merry Widow) - Utah Opera; Narrator (Joseph… Dreamcoat) - HCTO.

A familiar face to Hale Centre Theatre audiences; Addison was previously seen in our productions of The Wizard of Of (Tinman) and The Music Man (Harold Hill). Other favorite stage credits include: She Loves Me (Georg Nowack) with Harman Hall and Peter Pan (Captain Hook) with Ogden Musical Theatre. 

Justin is glad to be back on the Centre Stage! Recently in this season’s productions of The Secret Garden and A Tale of Two Cities. Other favorite credits include: on stage with HCT - Phantom, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and The Music Man; the musical director with HCTO - Thoroughly Modern Millie, Tuck Everlasting, Newsies, Anything Goes, Les Misérables, and Hello, Dolly!. 

Wade is currently pursuing a BFA in Acting at UVU. Recent credits include: Rooster (Annie), Moonface Martin (Anything Goes) Mr. Wormwood (Matilda), and Freddy Benson (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) at HCTO. Past directing credits include: Macbeth and This Is Our Youth with UVU; A Doll’s House with An Other Theatre Company; Pure Imagination at the Tuscany Suites’ Copa Room in Las Vegas.

Making his HCT debut! Brigham is over the moon to be joining the company of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Previous credits include: Bruce (Matilda) at Alpine Community Theatre and Charlie Bucket (Willy Wonka Jr.) at the Scera Shell Theatre.

Making his HCT debut! Asher is overjoyed to be joining the company of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. At the beginning of his stage career; credits include: Peter Pan Jr. in Beijing, China and Storybook Theatre Children’s Productions in Eastern Idaho. “I’m so excited to perform at the Hale Centre Theatre for my very first time with the cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I also love to read and race my bike down hills in summer!”

Making her HCT debut! Tessa comes to Hale Centre Theatre with an extensive resume including: National Tour of Waitress (Lulu) at the Eccles; A Christmas Carol (Fan/Belinda/Want) at Hale Centre Theatre Orem; Matilda (Amanda Thripp) at Alpine Community Theatre; Annie (Molly) at Midvale Main Street Theater and Bluffdale.

Hailey is excited to return to the Centre Stage! Previous roles include: HCT - Little Lucie (A Tale of Two Cities); PTC - Ivanka (Once); ACT - Matilda (Matilda); and HCTO - The Ghost of Christmas Past (A Christmas Carol Youth). In her free time, Hailey loves to sing with Rise Up Children’s Choir, play tennis, read and spend time with her family and friends. “Thank you to Dave, Rob, Jenny, Sally and Mark and everyone at HCT for this experience.”

Eric comes to Hale Centre with an extensive resume of dance experience. He has been training in ballroom and other various dance disciplines for over 12 years. Eric danced with RBE, UVU’s ballet company from 2017-2018, and took that experience and apprenticeship with the Utah Metropolitan Ballet for 2018-2019. 

HCT credits for Nick include: Newsies, Big Fish, 9 to 5: The Musical, and Joseph...Dreamcoat with Hale Centre Theatre. Other favorite stage credits include: Davy (Newsies) with CPT, Riff (West Side Story), Jimmy (Thoroughly Modern Millie), Georg (She Loves Me), and Melchior (Spring Awakening) as well as providing choreography for Midvale Main Street Theatre, UVU, Pink Neon Productions, and Taylorville High School. Nick earned his BFA in Musical Theatre from UVU.

Making his HCT debut! From western Canada, Benjamin comes to Hale Centre with an extensive resume including: 1820 The Musical (World Premiere) with Covey Arts Centre; Catch Me If You Can (Canada Premiere) and Disney’s Mary Poppins with Carriage House Theatre; Ballad of Cat Ballou with Jackson Hole Playhouse; Into The Woods at Pardoe Theatre; Radium Girls and Wendy & Peter Pan at Margetts Theatre. 

Thrilled to be back after playing Javert in Les Miserables and Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls earlier this season. Preston’s favorite credits include: HCT: Kerchak (Tarzan), Prince Topher (Cinderella), Tin Man (The Wizard of Oz), and Jack Kelly (Newsies); BYU: Benedick (Much Ado About Nothing), Orin (Little Shop of Horrors), 

Alan is no stranger to the Centre Stage having previously been seen in our productions of Newsies, Sister Act, The Pirate Queen, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Disney’s Mary Poppins, Disney’s Tarzan, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, 9 to 5: The Musical, Zorro: The Musical, The Wedding Singer, and Hello, Dolly!. 

A familiar face on both of our stages, Alden’s previous credits include: Mary Poppins, Seussical, Freaky Friday, An American in Paris, The Wizard of Oz, and Elmer in Newsies. Previous roles have included Jesus (Godspell) at Pioneer High School for the Performing Arts and Caliban (The Tempest) at the Creekside Theatre Festival. 

Myles is thrilled to be back with Hale Centre Theatre for this production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Other stage credits include: An American in Paris (Jerry) and Phantom with HCT; Mamma Mia and Newsies with PTC; and is currently a company member with SALT Contemporary Dance.

Noah was recently seen on the Centre Stage in our production of Guys and Dolls. Other favorite credits include: HCT - Disney’s Tarzan, Mary Poppins (Neleus), Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom The Musical (Scott Hastings), Matilda (Rudolpho), Cinderella, An American In Paris, and Newsies; 

An accomplished performer; Izzy is grateful for the opportunity to share his talents with HCT. Stage credits include: An American in Paris with HCT; Disney’s Tarzan, Anything Goes, In the Heights, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (HCTO); Newsies (PTC); La Cage Aux Folles (Arizona Broadway Theatre); and Footloose (Harman Theatre). Izzy studied at Utah Valley University and works as a dance teacher, choreographer, and photographer.

Dave is thrilled to be back on the HCT stage after recently performing in our production of Guys and Dolls. Other favorite credits include: HCT - Disney’s Tarzan, Mary Poppins, and Phantom; Mountain West Ballet - Alice in Wonderland, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Copelia; Utah Opera (Capitol Theater) - Yenufa; Ballet West (Capitol Theater) - The Nutcracker and Swan Lake; and 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Winter Games - Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Making his HCT debut! Seth is honored to be joining the Hale Centre family with this production. Heather is elated to be back on the HCT boards. An accomplished dancer, Emily is honored to showcase her talents in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Other stage credits include: An American in Paris, My Son Pinocchio, and The Music Man with HCT; Feld Entertainment’s “DisneyLive!” productions where she toured for six years, performing as various characters;

Abigail recently graduated from The University of Utah with a BFA in Ballet with an emphasis in Ballet Teaching. Stage credits: Disney’s Mary Poppins and Phantom at Hale Centre Theatre and Tuck Everlasting at Hale Centre Theatre Orem as well as performing as a member of Utah Ballet.  

Making her HCT debut! Anne-Marie’s favorite credits include Footloose: The Musical. She attended American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York and graduated from UVU as part of the Modern Dance Program. She works as a dance teacher, podcast host, and choreographer. “Art is the only way to run away without leaving home.” Twyla Tharp

Thrilled to be back on the HCT stage, Summer was last seen as Laurel in Freaky Friday.  Her other credits include: The Little Mermaid (Alana) with HCTO, Side Show (Violet) and Crazy For You (Polly) with BYU, and The Addams Family (Ancestor) with Pickleville. She graduated from BYU this spring with her BFA in Musical Theatre and teaches Musical Theatre at Center Stage Performing Arts Studio.

Thrilled to be making her HCT debut! Sofia is currently a Sophomore at Bingham High School.  “To my family and teachers, thank you for everything you do for me. I love you!”

Brooke’s HCT credits include Mary Poppins, Phantom, and An American in Paris. She’s a professional dancer who has danced with Utah Metropolitan Ballet, Utah Ballet, Ohio Ballet, and BYU Theatre Ballet as well as performing as a guest artist with The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square and the Cleveland Chamber Ballet. 

Honored to return to the Centre Stage; Emma was last seen in our production of Phantom. Other favorite stage credits include: Mary Poppins (2014) and An American in Paris with Hale Centre Theatre and Guys and Dolls with HCTO. Emma earned her BS in Cognitive Science and Dance Minor from UC San Diego and works as a Kindergarten Teacher.

Devree is thrilled to be back with HCT.  Her credits include: HCT - Phantom and Music Man; HCTO - Joseph and… Dreamcoat; Ballet West - Nutcracker at the Capitol Theatre (2012-2017); and Barlow Arts Conservatory - Swan Lake, Coppelia, Cinderella, Nutcracker, Annie, Xanadu, and Thoroughly Modern Millie. 

Making his HCT debut! Caleb’s favorite credits include A Christmas Carol (Boy Scrooge/Peter Cratchit/Turkey Boy) with Hale Center Theater Orem and Disney’s Newsies (Jack Kelly) with Cedar Hills Youth Theatre.  He is currently a junior high school student. “Music is my life and passion.”

Making his HCT debut! Veni’s favorite credits include Robin Hood (Robin Hood) with Woods Cross Elementary and The Little Mermaid (Kids Ensemble) with Sandbox Theatre Company.  He’s currently a 6th grade student.  “When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind.”

Jacob is thrilled to be back on the HCT stage! His credits include Tuck Everlasting and five seasons in A Christmas Carol with HCT, Peter Pan (Michael) with Pickleville Playhouse, and Pabbie the Troll in Frozen Jr. with Midvale Main Street Theatre. When not on stage, this 6th grader enjoys soccer, violin, reading, skiing (water and snow), and being the best brother in all the land. “Teamwork can make a dream work.”

Making his theatrical debut! Lelini is thrilled that his first time on stage is alongside his older brother and is excited to be part of such an amazing cast and crew at Hale Centre Theatre.  He’s currently a 3rd grade student.  “Always be kind!”

Making her HCT debut! Jane’s favorite credits include Matilda (Matilda) with Cottonwood Heights, and The Jungle Book and Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with Parker Theatre.  She is a 5th grade student and dances at Barlow Arts Conservatory.

Thrilled to be back on the HCT stage; Bridget’s favorite HCT credits include The Addams Family (Pugsley), Matilda (Lavender), Wait Until Dark (Gloria), and My Son Pinocchio (Talia).  Her other favorite credits include Music Man (Amaryllis) with Centerpoint Legacy Theatre and The Nutcracker (Clara) with Ballet West, as well as performing The Nutcracker with Ballet West from 2014-2017.

Making her HCT debut!  Sheila has been studying and training at Barlow Arts Conservatory of Dance since she was 5 years old.  She is a 7th grade student.  “I am grateful for everything the Barlow Arts Conservatory has done for me. I am super excited to be a part of this wonderful show!!!”

2021 marks Jenny’s 13th Season with Hale Centre Theatre. Most recently at HCT Jenny directed/choreographed Daddy Long Legs and the US Premiere of Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom the Musical, which was named the number one theatre experience in Utah by Broadway World. Jenny has created over 50 musicals, most notable, Assoc. Director/Choreographer, HCT’s An American in Paris starring ballet superstar and Disney film actress, Juliet Doherty.

Rob graduated with a degree in music dance theater from BYU and has performed and taught regionally in Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and California. He received an MFA in directing from the University of Idaho. He returned to Utah to teach musical theater at UVU in 2012 where he directed Cabaret, Anything Goes, 9 to 5, and The Mystery of Edwin Drood.

Along with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Chantel has served as Stage Manager for Guys and Dolls, A Tale of Two Cities, Disney’s Mary Poppins, Seussical, Cinderella, Matilda, The Wizard of Oz, and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder here at HCT. She holds a BA in Theatre from UVU. Other credits include Utah Shakespeare Festival: The Foreigner and Big River. Another Theatre Company: Next Fall and Vanya, Sonia, Masha, and Spike. For UVU: Anything Goes, The Rez Sisters, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. "Stand tall and the world will look up to you."

Kacey is the Creative Director and Resident Scenic Designer at Hale Centre Theatre. He has designed over 100 productions at HCT and loves the challenge of working on our unique stages. Kacey oversaw many of the design aspects of the new building in Sandy and feels fortunate to be able to design on the stages that he helped create. His designs for Les Misérables, Tarzan, The Pirate Queen, A Tale of Two Cities, The Little Mermaid, Matilda, and Tuck Everlasting are among his favorites. 

As an accomplished artist and associate Designer, Madeline’s work was recently seen in our productions of The Secret Garden, Guys and Dolls, Les Miserables, A Tale of Two Cities, Disney’s Tarzan, Million Dollar Quartet, Baz Lurhman’s Strictly Ballroom The Musical, Bright Star, Seussical, Matilda, and Cinderella. 

Previous HCT Costume Design credits include The Secret Garden,  A Tale of Two Cities, Murder on the Orient Express, The Addams Family, An American In Paris, Tuck Everlasting, and My Son Pinocchio along with Joseph...Dreamcoat in 2017. She holds a BA from Hainan University in Fashion and Leather Products Design, and an MFA from Utah State University in Costume Design. Joy also designed for UST’s Candida, and was OLR’s Costume Designer for Game of Love and Chance.

Jaron has been the resident Lighting Designer for the oldest operating summer theater in the nation: The Cape Playhouse, where his credits include Little Shop of Horrors, The Importance of Being Earnest, Deathtrap, Clue, Altar Boyz, Steel Magnolias, Art, Red, The Foreigner, Murder for Two. 

Michelle has always loved telling stories. Being Hawaiian has helped her gain experience in events from a young age. She decided to dive into finding out more about sound and how it functions. This path led her to her MFA in Sound for the Performing Arts from Purdue University. 

Michelle is extremely passionate about details, research, beautiful and interesting “things,” anything to do with flowers, and opening packages. She recently designed her 82nd show with our production of The Mousetrap; some of her other favorite designs have included The Drowsy Chaperone, Over The River..., Les Misérables, Tarzan, Tuck Everlasting, My Fair Lady, AIDA, and She Loves Me. 

Krissa has been with HCT for a number of years, and has designed hair and make-up for The Secret Garden, A Tale of Two Cities, Bright Star, Seussical, Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, An American in Paris, AIDA, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, She Loves Me, and Peter and the Starcatcher. 

Previous HCT credits include Projection Designer for The Secret Garden, Les Miserables, A Tale of Two Cities, Disney’s Tarzan, Murder on the Orient Express, Million Dollar Quartet, Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom The Musical, Bright Star, Seussical, The Addams Family, Cinderella, Freaky Friday, Matilda and video content for A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder and Daddy Long Legs. 

Nick began working professionally in live entertainment right out of high school for Carnival Cruise Lines as a lighting technician. He then spent the last decade working for Disney Parks Live Entertainment designing and programming complex show control and automation systems for major productions and attractions such as Frozen, Live at the Hyperion, Fantasmic!, Disneyland Firework Spectaculars, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, & Star Wars Rise of the Resistance.
